Maintaining Compliant DEI Efforts in the Post-Harvard Landscape Lunch & Learn

Our virtual Lunch & Learn, “Maintaining Compliant DEI Efforts in the Post-Harvard Landscape,” took  place on May 30, 2024 at 12 p.m. (ET).

The US Supreme Court’s decision in Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College has not only impacted Affirmative Action Programs in Higher Education, but it has had a wide-reaching impact that continues to evolve.  It has led to heightened scrutiny with respect to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives/programs and settings outside of educational settings, particularly in employment settings.

An important conversation on this quickly expanding area, this program may specifically be of interest to DEI professionals, employment lawyers, in-house counsel, outside counsel, human resources, employee relations, compliance, or organizational leaders.

The program will cover:

  • Diversity as a laudable goal in the aftermath of the Harvard case
  • Understanding the differences between DEI and Affirmative Action
  • Review of legal challenges to school admissions policies, hiring programs, and DEI programs
  • Overview of proposed laws seeking to ban DEI programs
  • Proposed updates to reverse discrimination standards
  • Maintaining and expanding DEI efforts while remaining compliant
