New Jersey DCR Director Rachel Wainer Apter Nominated to New Jersey State Supreme Court

In our continuing celebration of Women’s History Month, KSB Law celebrates a significant accomplishment for a highly qualified New Jersey female lawyer. On March 15, 2021, Rachel Wainer Apter, Director of the Division on Civil Rights (DCR) was nominated to New Jersey’s highest court, the New Jersey State Supreme Court. Director Wainer Apter, a former clerk to United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, has demonstrated a strong commitment to combatting bias. As DCR Director, she has revamped the DCR, taken major proactive movement against bias, and was instrumental in holding statewide discrimination and harassment hearings that took place in September 2019. Such hearings led to the issuance of a comprehensive Report Preventing Harassment in February 2020 and proposed legislation which is currently being considered by the New Jersey Legislature. The DCR also, for the first time in New Jersey, published “Best Practices on Investigations” and issued detailed Guidance on the Diane B. Allen Equal Pay Act in March 2020.

KSB Law congratulates Director Wainer Apter on this well-deserved nomination! Once approved, she will continue to serve New Jersey well as a highly skilled jurist committed to equality and justice for all.
