Kirsten Scheurer Branigan was highlighted in the article, “Women Lawyers Association Recasts Itself and Its Mission,” for her work to revitalize the nearly defunct New Jersey Women Lawyers Association (NJWLA) in 2005. The article, which appeared in the November 27, 2006 New Jersey Law Journal, charted the course of NJWLA from its inception to the point in 2005 where it had not met for over a year. At that time, Branigan was approached by former NJWLA president Marilyn Askin, to see if she had any interest in taking over the helm of the organization. Branigan agreed and quickly chartered a course to revitalize NJWLA. The mission of NJWLA was refocused, including on retaining women in the legal profession in the face of insurmountable challenges and advancing female attorneys in all sectors.
