This training program is designed to help HR, employers, and supervisors understand how implicit/unconscious bias affects workplace decisions and interactions. During the session, attendees will learn to identify their own biases and gain a greater awareness of how hidden biases, assumptions, and stereotypes at an unconscious level in the brain impact everyday employment decisions and shape workplace culture, often without intent. The session will also provide effective tools and strategies to interrupt bias and promote a more inclusive, equitable, and respectful work environment.
Topics covered:
- Understanding implicit/unconscious bias and how it differs from explicit/conscious bias
- Understanding and identifying the various types of biases we all hold
- Recognizing how bias impacts employment decisions with respect to hiring, compensation, assignments, promotions, performance evaluations, discipline and discharge
- Reviewing stereotypes and assumptions and how they impact workplace interactions, employee relations and employment decisions
- Exploring tools and strategies to recognize, interrupt and mitigate bias in the workplace and in professional interactions
- Building a more inclusive and respectful workplace culture
