The current national and international climate concerning hot-button social and political may affect the workplace as employees have strong views and sometimes opposing views. In addition, some of these views are deeply grounded in an employee’s religious beliefs and practices or one’s cultural beliefs. This session is essential for organizations and employers who need to gain a greater understanding and obtain clear strategies for handling such issues before they escalate and create workplace tensions or lead to greater liability in the form of harassment claims.

Topics covered:

  • Discrimination and harassment based on religion, ethnicity, and national origin, including appearance, clothing, language, and hair (CROWN Act)
  • Religious accommodations under SCOTUS’ new standard in Groff v. DeJoy and religious expression vs. proselyting
  • Political speech, social media, and other off-duty conduct
  • White supremacy, bias incidents and hate speech
  • Unconscious/implicit bias and microaggressions
  • Providing employee support and creating an inclusive workplace environment
