New Jersey Enacts Legislation Regarding Providing Certification to LGBTQ+-Owned Business Enterprises

In an effort to expand and ensure equal economic and social opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community, Governor Murphy signed bipartisan legislation S1313/A3330 codifying the program  be established by Executive Order 295 directing the Department of the Treasury (“Treasury”) to develop a program for the registration or certification of LGBTQ+-owned business enterprises similar to those already in place for minority owned and women owned businesses as well as veteran-owned and disabled-veteran-owned businesses. The legislation clarifies who qualifies as an LGBTQ+-owned business enterprise and the process by which to seek certification.
