On August 21, 2025. Beth P. Zoller & Katie Ann Insinga will be speaking at the 2025 New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) Summer Conference on the topic “Redefining Discrimination Standards: Muldrow, Ames, and the Future of Claims Under Title VII and the NJLAD.”  This program will address significant recent Supreme Court decisions—Muldrow v. City of St. Louis and Ames v. Ohio Dept. of Youth Services—that have broadened standards for federal discrimination claims under Title VII, including lowering the threshold for adverse employment actions and making it easier for majority plaintiffs to bring reverse discrimination claims. The session will also examine how these rulings might influence New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination (NJLAD), particularly regarding the definition of adverse employment actions and reverse discrimination claims, and discuss open questions about how state and federal standards may differ going forward.
