EXPERIENCE

Teresa brings to her employment practice nearly twenty-five years of legal experience. She has represented diverse employers both in terms of size and industry.

An important part of her practice is helping employers get and stay on the right track. She meets with employers to review their policies and discuss their objectives to ensure compliance with our ever-changing employment laws. She counsels organizations on handling employee issues throughout the employment process from recruiting through termination. She develops with her clients a wide range of employment-related documents, including handbooks, policies, severance agreements, and employment contracts.

Teresa also regularly conducts training regarding the prevention of discrimination, retaliation, and harassment in the workplace, as well as unconscious bias training. In addition, she conducts workplace investigations in connection with alleged claims of harassment and other violations of federal and state employment laws.

During her career she has handled employment cases in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies, including the EEOC, the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, and the New York City Commission on Human Rights. Her matters have involved areas such as sexual harassment, discrimination (including age, disability, pregnancy, gender, race, national origin and sexual orientation), retaliation, termination, whistleblowing, reasonable accommodation, non-compete and restrictive covenant agreements, and family and medical leaves.

Teresa has served in a variety of neutral roles, including as an independent investigator, mediator and arbitrator. She has had an active mediation practice for over ten years and has also served as an Arbitrator and Mediator for the American Arbitration Association.
