Colleen M. Skinner, Counsel
Ms. Skinner is Chair of the firm’s Real Estate practice. She works on both employment and real estate matters for the firm. Ms. Skinner joined the firm of Kirsten Scheurer Branigan as counsel in 2010. She has spent much of her career involved in transactional work and has been involved in collaborative negotiations. She started her career at Penn Federal Savings Bank in West Orange, New Jersey in 1990 while in law school. At Penn, Ms. Skinner gained experience in due diligence, title review and closing documentation. In the eight years spent at Penn, she worked with General Counsel in all aspects of bank regulatory matters, including federal compliance regulations, branch management, collections, residential mortgage foreclosure, post closing and mortgage servicing. In 1998, Ms. Skinner began working at New Jersey Mortgage and Investment Corp., in Roseland, New Jersey where she spent three years in the mortgage industry acting as loan review and closing attorney preparing and reviewing Mortgages, Notes, Deeds, compliance documents and Contracts of Sale.
In 2001, after starting her family, Ms. Skinner began work with Olde School Title Agency in Nutley, New Jersey. During her tenure with Olde School Title Agency, she provided counsel on all aspects of residential real estate settlement including contract review, preparation of HUD 1 Settlement Statements, closing packages, deed and title review and document recording in connection with lenders, clients and outside attorneys.
In 2008, Ms. Skinner began work with Hartmann, Doherty, Rosa, Berman and Bulbulia, LLC in River Edge, New Jersey, where she used her experience to assist in the firm's real estate practice acting as closing attorney with the review and negotiation of Contracts, preparation of Deeds, HUDs and title review and for both residential and commercial clients.
Ms. Skinner has volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader at both Brownie and Daisy level since 2005 and enjoys her community involvement both as a member of her children's school and church PTO. Ms. Skinner is also a member of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association.
Ms. Skinner obtained her J.D. from New York Law School in 1992 and her B.A. from Douglass College, Rutgers University in 1989.
Ms. Skinner resides in New Jersey with her husband and their three daughters.
