Legal Profile
Catherine M. Aiello, Associate
Ms. Aiello provides employment law services for the firm as an Associate. She has experience in the areas of employment law, general litigation, bankruptcy, and trusts and estates, having previously worked for a litigation firm in Newark as well as several law firms and a solo practitioner while attending law school. During her last year at Rutgers Law School, she gained valuable "hands on" legal experience and advocacy skills in the Special Education Law Clinic working on behalf of a disabled client who was denied special education services guaranteed under both federal and state law. In addition to managing day-to-day contact with the client and opposing counsel, Ms. Aiello researched and wrote the brief that ultimately prevailed before the Appellate Division. She also served on the editorial staff of the Women's Rights Law Reporter, one of the oldest legal periodicals in the United States focusing exclusively on the field of women’s rights law.
Prior to embarking on a new legal career, Ms. Aiello enjoyed a successful 20-year career as a marketing communications executive for several Fortune 500 firms in New York City. As a former corporate employee and communications manager, she understands the workplace challenges facing both employees and employers and brings a unique perspective to the employment law practice.
During her years in Corporate America, Ms. Aiello hired and promoted employees, managed compensation and performance issues, and oversaw separations and leaves of absences for diverse teams, both in the United States and globally. Through her managerial and communications roles, she worked closely with Human Resources and Corporate Legal on a myriad of employment issues ranging from employment discrimination to global reductions in force and reorganizations. As a result of her managerial experiences, Ms. Aiello developed a keen interest in employment law issues and decided to pursue a second career.
She is a member of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association, the New Jersey chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association, as well as the New York and New Jersey State Bar Associations. She is also a member of the Sidney Reitman American Employment Law Inn of Court. Ms. Aiello is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. In 2009, Ms. Aiello obtained her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law-Newark in New Jersey and B.A. from Pace University in New York in 1985.
Ms. Aiello lives in Mahwah with her husband and has three stepchildren.
